The Ray P. Authement College of Sciences awarded 135 bachelor of science degrees and 23 master of science degrees during the Spring 2017 College of Sciences commencement ceremony on Friday, 12 May 2017. Earlier in the day, at the Commencement General Assembly, 4 college of sciences students received doctor of philosophy degrees.

Thirteen college of sciences students received special recognition at the college assembly.

Alyssa Bienvenu was honored as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association's Spring 2017 Outstanding Graduate for the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences.  Alyssa Bienvenu also received the Phi Beta Kappa  Association of Southwest Louisiana’s Outstanding Undergraduate Award in Arts and Sciences.

Katrina Hucks was honored as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association's Spring 2017 Outstanding Master's Graduate for the Department of Biology.

Samuel Ely was honored as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association's Spring 2017 Outstanding Master's Graduate for the School of Geosciences.

Delena Phung received the Spring 2017 David R. Andrew Scholar Award recipient.

Rachel Fulmer received the Spring 2017 Dr. Sigred Lanoux Service Award recipient.

Fatima Fazal-ur-Rehman received  the Spring 2017 Bradd Clark Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award recipient.

Bao Huynh received the Spring 2017 Dean Duane Blumberg Spirit Award recipient.

Brittany Foret received the Spring 2017 Phi Beta Kappa/Richard G. Neiheisel Endowed Award.  Brittany received a Master of Science degree in Biology. Her thesis, “Examination of Opioid and Glucocorticoid Receptor Pathways in Rhesus Macaques Exhibiting Self-Injurious Behaviors” was directed by Dr. Karen Smith.
