Faculty Spotlight: Sungsu Kim

Sungsu Kim, PhD joined the Department of Mathematics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as an assistant professor in August 2016. He received his PhD in Applied Statistics in 2009 from the University of California,Riverside. He received an MA in mathematics in 2008 from the University of California, Riverside, an MS in Statistics in 2004 from San Diego State University, and a BA in Bioengineering Pre-med in 1997 from the University of California, San Diego.  Upon receiving his PhD, Dr Kim joined Kyungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea as Assistant Professor.  Following that he was a Visiting Scientist at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, a Postdoctoral researcher at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Kim's main research interests are in the areas of Circular Statistics, Multivariate Analysis, Bioinformatics, and Stochastic Process.  His most current interests include Big Data Analytics. Dr. Kim stresses that in addition to his active research program he is also very serious about his teaching.
