Faculty Spotlight: Katie Costigan
Katie Costigan, PhD joined the School of Geosciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as an Assistant Professor of Hydrological Sciences in January 2015. She received her PhD in Geography in 2013 from Kansas State University and her MS in Hydrology in 2010 from the University of Nevada. In 2008, she received a BA in Geography and a BS in Natural Resources from the University of Connecticut.
Before coming to UL Lafayette Dr. Costigan had two postdoctoral research appointments. During the 2014 calendar year she worked with Kris Jaeger and Charles Goebel in the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University and from July through December of 2013 she was a research associate of Martha Mather in the USGS Co-op/ Division of Biology at Kansas State University.
Dr. Costigan is a hydrologist, geomorphologist, and ecologist (in the classical Tansley sense; that is, she is interested in the interaction of organisms and their environment). Dr. Costigan's research is focused on basic science that is relevant to decision making, conservation, and management.
