Resolution of Student/Faculty Issues
The procedure for resolving issues involving faculty and students in the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences is outlined below.
These procedures are set forth in accordance with those in the Code of Student Conduct to help resolve any issues including but not limited to grade appeals, classroom disturbances, and student/faculty disagreements.
- Step 1: Discuss the issue with the Instructor/Professor. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, move to step 2.
- Step 2: Discuss the issue with the Instructor's immediate supervisor. This will be someone in the departmental office. It may be an Assistant Department Head, a Chairperson, a Department Head or a Unit Head. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, move to step 3.
- Step 3: In the case where the department/unit is housed in a School, discuss the issue with the Director of the School. If the department/unit is not housed in a School or if the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, move to step 4.
- Step 4: Discuss the issue with the Assistant Dean of Sciences in Oliver Hall Room 201. For steps 4-6, you can call (337) 482-6986 and make an appointment or email a request to sciences@louisiana.edu. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, move to step 5.
- Step 5: Discuss the issue with the Associate Dean of Sciences in Oliver Hall Room 201. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, move to step 6.
- Step 6: Discuss the issue with the Dean of Sciences in Oliver Hall Room 201. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, move to step 7.
- Step 7: If the issue is a grade appeal, the next person you would speak to is the Ombudsman (University Ombudsman) in Student Union Room 164 within the Office of Student Affairs. If not, move to step 8.
- Step 8: The next and final step would be to discuss the issue with the Provost (Academic Affairs) in Martin Hall Room 231.
