Geology Museum Update

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Geology Museum (ULGM) in conjunction with the Lafayette Science Museum, opened the final installment of the “Fossil Giants” exhibit which focused on the “Giant Mammals” of the Cenozoic. Some of the visitor’s favorites include mastodon, Mammut americanum, the cave bear, Ursus spelaeus, and the towering giant ground sloth, Megatherium americanum. The museum hosted over fifty thousand visitors in 2017. The museum continued to provide students with research assistantships and employment in the preparation lab.
