Ray P. Authement College of Sciences Newsletter for 2017

Dear friends and colleagues,

Welcome to our new digital newsletter. We are happy to share some of the most recent progress made by our world-class faculty, staff, and students of the College. These dedicated and talented individuals are contributing to the College's growth and standing in education, research, and outreach. Several units in the College are once again in the top 100 of the National Science Foundation's ranking. Currently, enrollment and graduation of students is at a historic high. Over the past year, several of our faculty received some of the top awards and recognition for their research at the national level, and our students have been impressive with their success in getting job offers from some of the most competitive organizations. To create more opportunities for our students and to enhance the College's growth at the graduate level, we developed several new master's degree programs that are already attracting solid enrollment. The College's connection, relation, and collaboration with the community is strong and we witnessed another successful year of reaching out to and working with K-12 educators and students in our area.

I want you to know that your gifts to the College truly make a difference in the quality of our research and in our ability to educate and train the next generation of scientists. Because of your gifts, we are updating our labs and lab equipment. In fact, every time I walk through one of our academic schools or departments, I am reminded of your generosity and the obvious impact of your support on the lives of our students and faculty.

Again, some of our recent progress is highlighted in this newsletter. However, because of space limitations, the newsletter cannot fully describe our progress. I invite you to visit the College website frequently to stay informed on our progress and activities. I am looking forward to working with you to ensure that we have another great year. As always, I welcome your suggestions and comments. These should be addressed to Mrs. Grace Impastato at graceb@louisiana.edu

Sincerely yours,
Azmy S. Ackleh, Ph.D.
Dean of the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences
