Alumni Spotlight: Grant Gibson

Dr. Grant Gibson (Bachelor of Science, Physics, 1995; Master of Science, Physics, 1997). CEO of GATE, Inc. (Gibson Applied Technology and Engineering) in Houston, Texas.

Grant Gibson attended UL Lafayette in the mid-1990s, where he obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in nuclear physics. At the time he attended the University, he recalls being a student in a small physics department where professors took keen interest in their students. He credits Professors Emeriti Drs. Gary Glass, John Meriwether, James Garber and L. Dwynn Lafleur for their instruction and mentorship during his tenure at the university. This special connection between teacher and student provided Grant with the ambition to later obtain a doctorate degree in corrosion science and materials engineering at the University of Manchester in the UK.
