Summary

The School of Geosciences, formed in fall 2012, brings together the programs of Geology and Environmental Sciences (http://geos.louisiana.edu/). Our mission is to provide maximum value to our students, our community, and society through education and research focused on Energy and the Environment. The School of Geosciences consists of 11 full-time faculty (8 in Geology, 3 in Environmental Sciences), 4 instructors, 165 undergraduate majors, and 69 graduate students. We offer separate B.S. degrees in Geology and Environmental Sciences and a M.S. degree in Geology. Here we summarize the scholarly productivity of the research-active faculty in the School of Geosciences from 2009 to 2014. Data collected for the years prior to the formation of the School of Geosciences (2009-2011) were gathered separately for the faculty associated with the Geology and Environmental Sciences programs and were combined to make this report.

Research Dollars: Since 2009, the faculty in the School of Geosciences have produced on average ~ $735,000.00 in research dollars per year, whichamounts to about $73,000.00 per year per faculty member per year.

Peer-Reviewed Journal Publications: Since 2009, the faculty in the School of Geosciences have produced (on average) 15 published manuscripts per year, which amounts to ~1.5 per year per faculty member. In addition, since 2009, the faculty in the School of Geosciences have produced approximately 25 conference abstracts/proceedings per year.

Enrollments: Enrollments in Geology and now the School of Geosciences have been steadily increasing over the last decade. In Fall 2014, the School had a total of 233 students, including 69 Geology MS students, 98 Geology BS students, and 66 Environmental Sciences BS students.
